Dring. Dring.

Remember that cute bike bell I came across on my walk last week?

Well, when I came into work yesterday, my colleague informed me that she found something that we should get for our shop – Lo and behold, she showed me this company called Dring Dring that manufactures that EXACT bell out of their Montreal studio. Each bell is uniquely hand painted using eco-friendly paints, and then baked to ensure resistance to all types of weather!

They are on their way to our shop as we speak. Can’t wait to pick one out!

Love bikes.

I spy love.

There’s something about a morning in the city.

Rising before all of the hustle and bustle takes over. Watching the coffee shops open, the party animals saunter home and the sky slowly brighten.

It’s during these early subtle moments where I find myself noticing all the greatness around me. If only we could train ourselves to notice it all the time… I’m going to try my best.

A few glimpses of what I came across one morning last week…

I spy with my little eye, something that is love.

Infectious.

I’ve been thinking more and more since my last post, about a way I could make the world a shade brighter…like Hermione does.  Just a little gesture.  Or an action.  Then suddenly, today, I think I was handed a simple answer.  I had my performance review at work (always a little intimidating), and although my boss was quite brief…he said one thing that stood out.  “You have an infectious positive attitude that rubs off on people…”

Then it struck me.  This is enough.  A smile.  A high five.  A playful joke.  Asking how someone’s day is. This makes the world brighter.

I am still stewing to come up with something more, but until then, I will do my best to contribute smiles and positive energy to whoever is accepting it.

These pictures make me smile.

Words for Strangers

July 15, 2011 § Leave a comment

Of all the discouraging news and continuous terror we read in the daily post, this lovely project gives words back their ability to make us smile.  I admire the simplicity, and kindness of heart; and I commend Hermine for her dream to make the world a little bit brighter.

I hope that one day I see a note on my bicycle, and if I do, I will keep it in my wallet for all the years to come.

What project could you or I do in our community…I will think about this as the evening draws on.

For now,

The Glass Castle

I recently finished this beautiful memoir written by Jeanette Walls.  It’s a journey through unique ideals and values that encourage the reader to question the worth of  conformity and societal norms.  As four children are raised to see the World through different eyes, it takes readers back to Wall’s own childhood, remembering and questioning how things could have been different.

Each story is our own, and Walls does a wonderful job at sharing hers.
