Small town, big dreams.

As someone who is committed to prancing my footprints across the globe, it always surprises me just how much inspiration small towns can hold.

A talented old friend.

A friend L & I met years ago is taking his life for a serious ride. I remember sitting on a dock in the middle of the night with Jamie and his guitar.  We were both on summer adventures that lead us to Muskoka, surrounded by deep lakes and endless woods.  The voice that came out of this man (then teenager), was perfect for the setting.  Soft and coordinated, but not scripted and rehearsed.  You could tell he was still coming into his own, figuring out the next note, planning his next move.  He was good.

Now, I won’t say “I knew he was gonna make it”…but I mean, common,  I obviously knew he was gonna make it.  And now here he is.  Recording music that makes you beg for hot summer nights and campfires.  Songs that make you rock your head, and wish you learned to play the guitar so you could jam along.

Perfect camping music, great bbq background beats, and lovely road trip tunes…

up, up and away!

Moving on and moving up!  L just got a promotion in her job (I know she’ll blush when she reads this), but a congrats is definitely in order!  I won’t gush about what a queen she is, but I will say she rocks a lot of people’s worlds.  Can’t wait to see what she does in this world, and more immediately, in her new role.  The best part is…she’ll get to share it with all of us.  Cheers sis!  Popping a bottle of champagne for you…

(Also extending this cheers to our great friend J and her new house!!  Can’t wait to paint, decorate, light, and grow your new house into your dream home!  Ps. You’re officially a grown up…)

How to be alone.

Sometimes, even in the most ordinary of places, it’s possible to find the encouragement required to take a next step.

Spend some time alone with yourself, stop looking so hard and just relax and enjoy the ride already…

Poet, story teller, musician and singer-song writer, Tayna Davis, wowed us both with her lesson on embracing loneliness. As two friends who are separated by miles and miles, we took it to heart.

Enjoy.
